My Grandfather and his sister

This is my grandfather, Hugo Spier. That’s his sister, Ruth, he’s chasing around with a bat, or maybe an axe handle. He was born in 1897. Life in rural north Louisiana was kind of slow, so one of the favorite pasttimes was just goofing off, having fun, and taking pictures with the still-new Kodak camera. Despite this somewhat violent pose, he grew up to be a successful father of 2 and a small-business owner, and Ruth was a well-respected school-teacher and principal.
