Pirates and Hurricanes

Besides fishing, Grand Isle is known for two things: its pirate heritage from the days of Jean Lafitte and its sufferings from hurricanes. This illustrates both claims to fame. The pirate building is a tourist-trap of a daquiris shop run by a great guy named Frank Pecoe. The oak tree shows the effect that hurricanes and constant ocean winds can have on even the mightiest of trees.
