Fort Livingston

Fort Livingston was built in the early to mid-1800s. It never saw action. Today it is, as you can see, slowly collapsing into the Gulf of Mexico. You can read about the history of the fort here.

We circled in the area around the fort for 20 minutes or so while I tried to get some good shots of it. I spotted the pelican flying toward the collapsing wall, so I framed the picture in my camera and waited for the bird to glide into view. When he did, I snapped! I was lucky to get him with his wings raised up like that.
